Glacier Peak rises straight from the shore of Glacier Lake in early August. Benson Glacier, probably the last remaining glacier in the Wallowa Mountains, disappeared from Glacier Peak probably during the warm years of the 1930s. For more information about the Benson and the Little Ice Age, go to Whitebark View. This is in the heart of Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness at over 8,400 feet above sea level. Photographed with a 4x5 camera.
