Zumwalt Schoolhouse

In 1920, for the first time in U.S history, more people lived in cities than in the country. This demographic trend has continued to the present day, and many rural communities have dwindled and disappeared. The Zumwalt Schoolhouse north of Oregon's Wallowa Mountains remained a landmark for decades until a storm blew it down in 1991.
