Matterhorn West Wall

Oregon's answer to Yosemite's Half Dome. The biggest cliff of its sheerness in Oregon, it has been climbed but is not climbed often. The most difficult route-- possibly still Oregon's only Grade V--required a bivouac in hammocks on the first ascent in 1974. Photographed from above Hurricane Creek with a 4x5 camera.
