Cottonwood View

The 9600 foot high summit of Chief Joseph Mountain looms over moraine-dammed Wallowa Lake in October. This is in the Wallowa Mountains in the northeast corner of Oregon where autumn leaves and needles on cottonwoods, aspens, western larch, and hawthornes provide plenty of fall color. Chief Joseph Mountain is within the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area. Photographed on 6x7cm medium format.
